Safety is at the top of Toyota’s priority list, as well, and the company continues to enhance safety features used in its vehicles. Here’s a look at safety features that Toyota has in store for upcoming model year.

Introducing the Toyota New Global Architecture

Toyota recently announced the company’s latest safety technology, the Toyota New Global Architecture, coming up in new models. Toyota New Global Architecture is already featured in the fourth generation Prius, and it’s expected to be seen in the following generation as well. Essentially, by using intelligent design and a seamless integration of new materials, this system reduces cabin damage in the event of a collision.

These designs work to improve fuel economy, as powertrains are standardized, using fewer resources to build. The automaker aims to cut back on the total number of different components used to build its vehicles to create a simpler structure that uses state-of-the-art elements. These efforts may also create a greener manufacturing process, as less resources need to be shipped and used to build these vehicles.

With this clever redesigned structure comes a lower center of gravity, improving suspension and handling. The shell of the vehicle built with TNGA is also more rigid, increasing the responsiveness and safety of the car.  In many models, a wider view of the road is also provided by TNGA designs. As a result, drivers are offered safer and more stylish vehicles.

More About the Pre-Collision System

Beginning in 2017, drivers can expect to see the latest version of the Pre-Collision System in their favorite Toyota models. While Toyota New Global Architecture works to protect you when an accident happens, the Pre-Collision System works to prevent a collision from occurring at all. The Pre-Collision System uses an in-vehicle camera paired with a laser to help detect when there are other vehicles in front of yours.

When the system determines that a collision may occur, it sounds an alert, letting you know that you need to take action to prevent an accident. If you don’t respond quickly enough, and the Pre-Collision System anticipates contact with the other car, it will automatically apply the brakes by using Brake Assist. This quick reduction in speed can prevent an accident.

Additional Advanced Features in the Latest Toyotas

Additional safety features included with new Toyotas include Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. However, such standards may vary among models and trim levels, so be sure to ask your dealer which features your favorite Toyota carries.

If you are shopping for a new Toyota in the Raleigh area, your dealer can tell you more about the latest safety features in this automaker’s 2017 lineup. When you bring one of these Toyotas home, you can rest assured that your family is protected by some of the best safety features available.
