Dogs love to play and it is important that they get out and socialize with other dogs. A good way to do this is to bring them to a dog park. If you live near Cary and want to bring your dog to a park where they can run and play, there are some good choices within just a few miles. Here are some great dog parks near Cary

Cary Dog Park at Godbold Park

This is the one park right in Cary. Located at 2050 Northwest Maynard Rd, your dog can run free off-leash. The park covers about an acre and is right next to Godbold Park. You can buy an annual membership to the park or purchase a day pass at a Cary community center where you’ll get a card that opens the electric gate. Fees are based on if you are a Cary resident or non-resident and how many dogs you have. To register, bring a Pet ID tag, the registration form, and proof of rabies vaccination.

Millbrook Exchange Dog Park

This park (pictured above) in Raleigh has three different areas to help separate the dogs by ability. There is a larger area for high energy and large dogs, and a smaller area for older dogs, smaller ones, and puppies. The park also has a double-gated picnic area with a shelter to keep you out of the sun, and it has lights so you can even bring the dogs at night. A water spigot and buckets allow you to make sure you dog has fresh water.

Carolina Pines Community Dog Park

This park in Raleigh is located at 2305 Lake Wheeler Rd. It is open every day from sunrise to sunset and the dogs can run freely off-leash. There are two areas separated by a fence to keep the more energetic dogs away from the older dogs and the smaller ones. Water is available along with buckets so you can make sure your dog has something to drink while they play.

Oakwood Dog Park

Oakwood Dog Park in Raleigh is an off-leash park in Oakwood Park right next to the Cemetery. The park is open from sunrise to sunset and there are two separate fenced in areas. Energetic dogs of all sizes can use the Big Dog Park, and the Small Dog Park is for smaller and lower energy, or elderly dogs.

Hawthorne Bark Park

This is a small park within an apartment complex on Green Lantern St. in Raleigh. It is just one fenced in area and it is very rarely used so if you want to just meet up with a friend or two so your dogs can play this is the place to do it. It is open anytime and there is no cost to use the park.

These are just a few of the parks within the Cary and Raleigh area. Dogs are also welcome in other local parks but you must have them on a leash. If you want to give them time to run free, try one of these areas.
