Tired of the usual stuff to do in Cary? Does it feel like you’ve seen it all? There may be a few things you haven’t checked out on this list. Each is either unique to Cary and can’t be found anywhere else, or it’s a cool idea that’s fairly uncommon in the area. These are the things that really make the city special.

Cipher Escape

Escape room games are gradually getting more popular and well-known, and this is the place to be if you’d like to try them. For those who don’t know, escape room games usually involve being “locked” in a themed room full of interesting but challenging puzzles that eventually lead to you escaping. Groups usually have 45 minutes to an hour to find the way out, and it puts everyone’s problem-solving and ingenuity to the test.

Sri Venkateswara Temple

Ever thought you could see an authentic Hindu temple in Cary, North Carolina? Built in a highly detailed design of white stone, this lovely structure is great for a picture, and it features statues of Balaji and Shiva that sit or hang atop the many layers of the temple’s exterior.

Page-Walker Arts & History Center

No one can say they’ve seen everything in Cary if they haven’t visited this local favorite. Originally built in 1868 as a hotel, it is now a registered national historic place. This attraction is loaded with community events, from classes and concerts to art exhibits. You can also take a serene walk through the Page Smokehouse and Anne B Kratzer Educational Garden on a pleasant day, and learn about the area’s valuable history.

Cary Heritage Museum

As long as you’re near the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, be sure to also visit this nearby museum. Winner of the Evelina D. Miller Museum Award, Cary Heritage Museum is a small attraction with lots to see around every corner. As you explore the small, single floor of exhibits, you’ll see some of the most valuable artifacts of Cary’s older days. Kids will love the timeline, which has a railroad track crawling along the ground that guides people through the museum and to each interesting attraction in the right order.

The Meeting Place

The Cary Fire Sculpture, officially known as the Meeting Place, is a huge, house-like structure with tiny squares that release the light of the fire made inside. It was created with an inner kiln, which baked and solidified this intriguing structure forever. This mix of clay work, sculpting, and performance art was enacted on a magical night in 2012, in an open field; but now the Meeting Place has been moved. You can now find it at a vacant lot on Pleasants Avenue and Kildare Farm Road, where the natural landscape makes it look even nicer.

We hope this list provides a new itinerary of things to check out in your free time. Cary is set right next to Raleigh and is one of the larger municipalities of the North Carolina, so there’s a whole lot to see if you go out of your way to try something new. Have fun, and remember to bring friends or family!
