leith-toyota-cary-nc-2017-toyota-camryThe 2017 Toyota Camry is a spacious sedan that offers a good driving experience for almost any driver. There are several different trim levels for extra luxury or sports features to accommodate different driving preferences, and it has a powerful engine. The two higher-end trims, the XLE and the XSE have many similar features, but there are also some big differences. Here are some of the differences between the two.

Safety Connect

The Safety Connect system is an optional package on the XLE but it is not available on the XSE. This system comes with Emergency Assistance and a locator for if your vehicle is stolen. It also has roadside assistance and automatic collision notification. The package comes with a free one-year subscription.

Headlights

The standard headlights on the XSE are a projector-beam headlight. They come with black sport trim bezels and an automatic on and off feature. The XLE come standard with projector-beam halogen headlights. These also have an automatic on and off feature. The front grille of the XSE is a piano-black with a sport mesh. This feature is not available on the XLE.

Wheels

The XLE comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels with a SuperChrome paint. The standard wheels on the XSE are and 18-inch machined alloy wheel. These have black accents painted on.

Interior

The interior seating is different in these vehicles. The XSE comes standard with a sporty leather-trimmed Ultrasuede fabric. The seats have a multi-stage heating system and seatback pockets. The driver’s seat has an 8-way power adjustable system complete with lumbar support. The passenger seat has also has a 4-way power adjustable system. The XLE comes standard with leather-trimmed seats. The seats in this model also have a multi-stage heating system and the 8-way power adjusting system for the driver and 4-way power adjusting system for the front passenger.

Driving Experience

The difference in driving the two vehicles has everything to do with the bigger wheels on the XSE. The XLE offers a smooth ride and good control and stability with the smaller 17-inch wheels, but the XSE has a better response and firmer suspension. You’ll get these without sacrificing any comfort in the XSE because of the 18-inch wheels.

Engine

Both trims offer two engine choices. A smaller 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine will get 178 horsepower. There is also an option for a 3.5-liter V6 engine that will get 268 horsepower and 247 pound/feet of torque. This stronger engine will get the vehicle from 0-60 in under 6 seconds, and this is the better choice for those who are looking for a more powerful ride. Both come with a six-speed automatic transmission.

There are many similarities between the XLE and the XSE. Where you’ll notice the biggest difference is in the tire size. If you are looking for that more responsive driving experience, then the larger wheels on the XSE are something to consider before buying. Both vehicles have the same safety features, and driver assist technology along with the same safety features.
